What does the term

                     ‘architect’ mean?

An architect is a person who plans, designs and oversees the construction of buildings. Architects are
professionally trained to design buildings, which includes managing the process to the end when you
                     have the building you want.

To register as a professional you need to complete a degree at a tertiary institution, followed by a
minimum of 3,200 hours of practical training and the successful completion of a professional practice
examination. While architectural draftspersons and technologists may offer some of the services that
an architect does, it is only by employing a registered professional architect that a client may
expect to tap into the full range of skills and services that an architect can provide.
